Before we begin, you should know that the attractions discussed below will be exhibited only one-time on their respective dates! Therefore, you simply cannot miss these art works.
‘Art Macao’ is a five month mega international arts and cultural event, featuring the ‘Art Macao: International Art Exhibition’ where visual arts works, art installations, musical and theatrical performances and dance, music, drama festivals will be presented. It will be an unforgettable artistic summer full of emotions!

- Percussion Concert ‘Drumming the World’:
An old friend of the Macao Chinese Orchestra has been specially invited! Professor Wang Jianhua, a percussionist and doctoral advisor at the Central Conservatory of Music is here to conduct his grand concert. He will present an original ‘feast’ to the public. The driven, freedom yearning work ‘Havoc in Heaven’ will be premiered at Art Macao and the ambitious work ‘Camel Bells in the Desert and Melody of Drums’, a classic, representing the essence, energy and spirit of Chinese percussion music will create drumming sounds that will resonate through entire Macao!

- International Youth Music Festival 2019 ‘One Belt, One Road – Music throughout Macao’:
To promote exchange among the different groups of youths, to provide opportunities for them to learn and show their artistic abilities, and to establish a platform for their friendship to achieve cultural integration, music has been picked to be the prime element of communication at Art Macao. Young orchestra groups from Portugal and regions and countries along the Belt and Road will collaborate with local youth orchestras to present diversified performances!
Come, join these youngsters in their journey to make the world better through friendship and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Portugal.

- International Youth Dance Festival 2019 ‘Marvelous Dance for the 20th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland’:
To give the youth a chance to learn the cultural characteristics of each region and country, to promote an exchange among the different groups of youths and to provide an opportunity to show their artistic abilities, this event has been organized. Celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China with some dancing, new friendships and cultural integration!

Place: Ruins of St. Paul’s, St. Dominic’s Square, Senado Square, Macao Forum 1
- Splendid China:
A captivating performance by musical maestros conveying the natural beauty and the historical glories of the country through their art should be the next event to attend in your list. Liu Sha, the Music Director and Principal Conductor will kick off this concert with ‘Cantonese Classics’, Chinese traditional music featuring elements of Guangdong music. Tang Junqiao, the most influential Asian dizi performer and Professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music will perform the concert ‘The Song of Flight’ and Tian Ding; Principal Suona will perform a Suona concert to famous composer Kuan Nai-chung. The compelling close to the concert will be ‘The Mohe Tribe Suite’ that depicts the life of the ethnic groups of Northern China.

- Kirill Gerstein and Macao Orchestra: 2018-2019 Season Closing Concert:
Celebrate Romanticism with Lu Jia and Kirill Gerstein in their fabulous collaboration ‘Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini’ – a wonderful dialogue between two generations of piano virtuosos. In the second part, ‘Ninth Symphony’ by Schubert will be performed by Macao Orchestra, a work that embodies the maintenance and rebirth of the classical tradition in the Romantic period.
Let’s just confess that this performance by the Music Director and Principal Conductor with the renowned pianist is much-anticipated!

Psst! We have one more attraction for you to witness! Look out for Happy Heads art installation by Benoit+BO (from Belgium) at Art Macao till 15th August, 2019! Happy Heads are colourful head-to-head street installation smiling dolls that represent contemporary art. You can find them at Jorge Álvares Garden, in Praia Grande. It is an extension of the exhibition ‘Prosperous Years’.
